Did you know...? In the seventeenth century, French bakers stacked wheat buns and coated them with icing. This is believed to be the origin of wedding cakes that look more like our modern wedding cakes. The typical wedding cake today is composed of several cakes stacked in layers and then covered and decorated with icing. |
Frequently Asked Questions Here are some questions that many brides have when looking for a wedding cake.
Absolutely! We are known for great taste. We always get comments on how delicious and moist our cakes are.
You may arrange a private tasting to sample several of the flavors we offer. The tasting fee of $ 40 is refundable when you order a cake. Since I do not have commercial kitchen space of my own, yet, I must make arrangements several days ahead of your appointment to bake the samples in a kitchen that has been inspected by the health department. Tastings and consultations most often take place in my home, located in the Cedar Bluff/Middlebrook area of West Knoxville.

Certainly. We have a collection of pictures to inspire you, or you are welcome to bring your own. Invitations or fabrics can also provide ideas for your cake.
Fondant is the icing that gives you a porcelain-like finish found on many of today's most popular cake designs. It has a taste similar to marshmellow, and is rolled out in a smooth sheet that covers the entire cake. It can also be flavored. Some people do not like the taste of fondant, so we recommend you taste it before ordering it. There are certain advantages to covering a cake with fondant. First, it allows you many exciting design options, and secondly, it protects the cake and icing underneath -- especially on a hot day at an outdoor wedding!
No. You need to order fresh flowers through your florist. You get the best price that way, and you are assured the flowers will match. We will arrange them on the cake, or you may have your florist do it.
That depends on how you'll be serving it. Will you be serving the top tier, or keeping it for your anniversary? Will you have a groom’s cake? We will use a serving chart to determine the size of the cake you need.
